French Bread and Ecole Software joined up with Sega to create Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax last year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Dengeki Bunko light novel imprint that publishes famous works likeDurarara!!, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Black Bullet, Sword Art Online, Strike The Blood, and more.
This can be called the ultimate crossover for Dengeki Bunko.
The game was released to arcades across Japan first, with Akira Yuki from Sega’s Virtua Fighter as a boss character. He was made playable in the console version of the game, which added Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles.
It seemed unlikely that the game would be released outside Japan, but that is no longer the case.
Sega plans on bringing Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax to North America and Europe sometime this summer during the third quarter. The game will be released on the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita consoles, which means Xbox and Nintendo console owners are out of luck.
This is an example that the Playstation 3 is still the console for fighting game lovers.
If you can play Street Fighter or King of Fighters, then you can play Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.
The battle system is similar to Sengoku Basara X and King of Fighters, where you have a support character. You have 14 playable characters and a larger number of support characters to choose from, which gives you the freedom to mix and match.
Summoning a support character is similar to using KOF’s Striker system.
Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is a game for fighting game and Dengeki Bunko fans.
Playable characters include Kirito & Asuna from Sword Art Online, Mikoto Misaka from A Certain Scientific Railgun, Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara!!, Rentaro Satomi from Black Bullet, Miyuki Shiba from The Irregular at Magic High School, and Yukina Himeragi from Strike the Blood.
Support characters include Toma Kamijo from A Certain Magical Index, Koko Kaga from Golden Time, Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!, Holo fromSpice and Wolf, Enju Aihara from Black Bullet, Pai Chan from Virtua Fighter, Sadao Mao from The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, Kino from Kino’s Journey, and more.
The game is jointly developed by French Bread & Ecole Software and is published by Sega.
